This gear list is not necessarily comprehensive. Please look at e-mails and invoices sent to you for additional items you'll need for our classes. Please ASK questions if there is any confusion. It is the STUDENT'S responsibility to be prepared for class.
Some items may be available upon request. This is NOT a guarantee.
If the student does not have any of these items it is the student's responsibility to arrange for the items to be provided if possible. Items are first come, first serve. Some items may be available at an additional fee.
Steel/penetrator ammunition must NOT be used without special permission as it may damage steel targets or backstops.
FOR ALL CLASSES: During COVID-19, the following rules apply.
Outside: all participants must stay at least six (6) feet away where possible and wear masks when that is not possible.
Inside: all participants must stay at least six (6) feet away where possible and wear masks PERIOD. If the mask needs to come off, head outside.
Pen (black ink), pencil, paper/notepad or notebook
-Food (for classroom and for outdoor range, NEVER eat without using de-leading wipes or de-leading soap, and NEVER eat inside an indoor range building)
-Cold Water (NEVER drink inside and indoor range building)
-Gatorade/Electrolyte drink if your doctor permits (NEVER drink inside and indoor range building)
***ALL DRINKS MUST BE SEALED INSIDE AN INDOOR RANGE BUILDING OR BEST LEFT IN YOUR VEHICLE***
-Ball cap
-Closed toed shoes with good traction (preferably waterproof boots if outdoors).
-Good, sturdy belt
-Eye and ear protection (please bring your own-I have them, but during COVID-19, we probably shouldn't share eyes and ears)
-For COVID-19-Please wear mask and gloves. A face cover is fine if no mask is available to you (check that this doesn't fog your glasses or cause them to fall off--we may have tricks for this). N95 or higher is best, surgical mask is second best, with other face covers falling below this curve in terms of effectiveness.**Faces must be covered at all times**
-If you have these: Hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, alcohol wipes (70% isopropyl)
-Clothing must:
-have good coverage (NO v-necks, or low-cut tops, must wear socks and long pants)
-be weather appropriate depending on the range and the conditions (DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE WEATHER)
-be durable (able to get dirty and dragged against gravel)
If Tactical or Outdoor Range-ALSO bring:

Tactical Shotgun 1 or Defensive Shotgun
-Shotgun of good quality
-Side saddle and/or shell carriers on the belt line (highly recommended) -Mesa Tactical (must be installed by gunsmith) or Wlamart sells a slip on cloth side saddle--I'm sure Amazon does too. Safariland has shell carriers for the beltline. *Not a product endorsement*
-Bandalier or shell pouch (optional) --Amazon has them. Just make sure they're good.
-Tactical style sling (recommended, but we can make do without-just let us know if you don't have this) (Well known, commonly used slings are available from: Blue Force Gear, Haley Strategic, First Spear, etc.) *Not a product endorsement*
Ammunition (MUST BE THE RIGHT GUAGE):
-30 slugs (MUST BE RIFLED IF YOU HAVE A SMOOTH BORE, MUST BE NON-RIFLED IF YOU HAVE A RIFLED BARREL)-Can ruin your shotgun if wrong ammo is selected.
-150 buck shot (00 buck) also referred to as "double odd" buck shot. Up to half of these buck shot loads may be substituted with target loads (#7 or 7 1/2). This is recommended as target loads have less recoil.
Tactical Shotgun 2 & 3
-Double the requirements for level 1.
-Sling REQUIRED.
-ALL requirements for Handgun 1 as transitions to handgun are required.
Room Clearing/CQB

-CHECK OWNER'S MANUAL TO ENSURE TOOLS/CLEANERS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT ARE SAFE FOR YOUR SCOPE AND RIFLE.

The COVID-19 precautions are especially important for Self-Defense classes due to the close proximity of participants in certain situations.
Constantly, wash hands and/or use hand sanitizer before adjusting your mask, eating, and before or after touching your training partner. Wear gloves when possible.
